Overview
FD Technologies plc is a group of data-driven businesses that unlock the value of insight, hindsight, and foresight to drive organisations forward. The Group we know today owes its success to Brian Conlon, a true FinTech pioneer. Brian established First Derivatives (FD) in 1996 from his mother’s spare bedroom with a loan of £5,000 from the Newry Credit Union and built the company into the technology powerhouse it is today. Since its inception, FD has grown rapidly under Brian’s leadership and now employs thousands of people across the world, with offices across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Project Lighthouse is an Oracle Fusion Applications Solution covering HR, Finance, Procurement, Projects and Sales integration bringing significant business benefit and change to FD Technologies. FD Technologies’ desire to improve business processes, governance and review roles will have a significant impact on current ways of working.Â
Challenge
The objectives of the Training Strategy is to support FD Technologies in achieving the following:
- Ensure Project Lighthouse has an effective Training Needs Analysis that clearly identifies training needs based on new roles.
- Developing a fit for purpose training curriculum for each group based on their training needs
- Recommend, develop and deliver modes of training aligned to individual / group learning requirements in advance of and after Go-Live
- Ensure users have received adequate training on new processes, roles and are business ready in time for Go-Live.
Approach
Our team was provided with an initial Training Needs Analysis, which seemed to be well developed. However, upon closer inspection it was clear that this was fairly high level and more work was required to pull out the detail of the training required and the user community that the training would serve.
Once the TNA was redefined, our team pulled together the training materials and developed a series of Workbooks for the end users. These workbooks were designed to provide support for exercises taught during the virtual training sessions, and to give each trainee additional support once the Oracle system was live.
Along with these our training team developed a number of Training Videos with supporting QRG’s (Quick Reference Guides) covering:
- Basic Navigation
- Oracle Projects
- Oracle Procurement
- Oracle HCM
- Reporting
Training was delivered virtually due to the decentralised workforce and logistical challenges, the MSTeams platform was used for this, all sessions were recorded for reference purposes.
In addition to this our team provided some post go-live training support, especially around Month-End for the Finance team, as this was their first Month-End close.

Benefits
All Professional Users and Self-Service Users were trained and supported in the new ways of working with Oracle Fusion and the change in business process.Â
FD Technologies now have a huge library of Training Content that can be utilised for new joiners and movers within the organisation.Â
