Overview
Travis Perkins is part of Travis Perkins plc and the UK’s largest supplier of building materials to the building and construction industry. Featuring a network of over 500 branches, supplying thousands of products and materials, including a hire service, to trade professionals and self-builders across the nation. With a wide range of quality timber, building materials, kitchens, plumbing and heating, landscaping, painting and decorating essentials and tools for the job – we do what matters for the trade.
The Finance Modernisation Programme is fundamental to the future of the Travis Perkins group. The current finance operating system in most business units was installed in 1986 and, along with many other heritage systems, is no longer fit for purpose. Implementing the new Oracle Fusion solution will set the foundation for the business going forward within a well controlled framework, reduce the level of risk for the group and improve future scalability. Â
The Finance Modernisation Programme will see the implementation of a new Oracle solution built around the following workstreams:
- Procure to Pay (P2P)
- Plan to Stock (P2S)
- Order to Cash (O2C)
- Record to Report (R2R)
Challenge
There are around 2000 colleagues with a diverse range of roles that will be impacted in some way by the changes being delivered in the Finance Modernisation programme.
The training audience is expected to include:
- Branch colleaguesÂ
- Regional Operations Managers, Regional Managers
- Group Finance Teams
- Business Finance Teams
- Regional Directors
The branch network consists of around 785 branches widely distributed from Tain in Northern Scotland down to Penzance in the South West of England. Location was therefore a key factor which needs to taken into consideration with the approach to training.
There were some key issues to be considered when defining the training strategy:
- Type of Change
- Behaviours & Culture
- Communications
- IT Systems & Colleague Capabilities
- Leadership
- Team Locations
Approach
Fudge, as part of the Change Management Program, designed a training solution that encompasses a new Learning Platform, Train the Trainer, Peer Support networks and role based learning materials.
Our Training Needs Analysis has broken the content down into 4 major workstreams, with sub topics of training under each workstream:
- Procure to Pay
- Order Management
- Payables
- Supplier Management
- Order to Cash
- Projects
- Plan to Stock
- Product Management & Accounting
- Record to Report
- Financials
- Projects
- Receivables
- EPM
- Cash Management

What do our customers think of our training?
Fudgelearn focus on the quality of relationships with customers and look to work in Partnership to help achieve the desired outcomes. They’ve proven flexible in meeting our requirements and extremely responsive in managing the service they provide. For example, one of their Account Managers has come onsite on a regular basis to provide support and guidance for members of my department to ensure we’re getting the most from the service.

I found the Fudgelearn Account Manager to be very knowledgeable and was able to offer the correct package to meet my needs and wider career goals.
I left my one-to-one feeling enthused to undertake my tailored training plan.
Without Fudgelearn’s direction, I feel I would still be wandering around in the darkness!

Michael is very knowledgeable, patient and friendly - he has had the answers to all the questions asked, so it is obvious he knows his stuff inside out.
Definetely an expert in his field, and very confident with his level of knowledge.
Michael was very knowledgeable, and will be a good resource to tap into when we start to write reports in earnest.
Did very well, with beginners to more experienced students attending.

Now I have a better knowledge of the workflow between the BANK and CASH MANAGEMENT which is great!
I can now navigate in Receivables, navigate in the schedule processes screen, create a receipt, apply a receipt, reverse a receipt, all great information!
Great to know how to create invoices, how AP works in Oscar and to manage payments and reporting.
I now have a further understanding of FA itself, how to navigate and perform FA required tasks.
